Vote Yes On Prop 8
Bryan attended an adult meeting tonight regarding Proposition 8. It was a broadcast from Utah where Elders M. Russel Ballard and Quentin L. Cook spoke about same-sex marriage and the effects if Prop 8 fails. Unfortunately I couldn't attend but Bryan told me all about it.
We have been active in this campaign to preserve the wonderful institution of Marriage. We've been making phone calls, and tomorrow we as a family, are going to go help distribute yard signs to those families who have requested some. My good friend Lisa posted these remarks regarding Elder Cook's and Elder Ballard's talks on her blog and I couldn't have worded it better. She writes: "Elder Cook made the comment that in this day and age sin has been given the mask of tolerance. It's scary to think of all the things that could and probably will happen if enough Californians vote no on Prop 8. The ripple effects of that "tolerance" will effect our nation".
We are being asked to help where needed.
"Elder Ballard spoke directly to young single adults and young married couples who are involved with the Internet. Us computer savvy folks were encouraged to flood the Internet (our profiles, blogs, and such) with information about Proposition 8. They only way the word will be spread is if we open our mouths and talk. We were told to "go viral"
I agree!!!
We owe it to our ancestors, ourselves, and our children.
Here are two websites to go to for more information and updates: http://www.preservingmarriage.com/ and http://www.protectmarriage.com/
True to the Faith
Shall the youth of Zion falter
In defending truth and right?
While the enemy assaileth,
Shall we shrink or shun the fight? NO!
While we know the power's of darkness
Seek to thwart the work of God.
Shall the children of the promise
Cease to grasp the iron rod? NO!
We will work out our salvation;
We will cleave unto the truth;
We will watch and pray and labor
With the fervent zeal of youth. YES!
We will strive to be found worthy
Of the kingdom of our Lord,
With the faithful ones redeemed
Who have loved and kept his word. YES!
True to the faith that our parents have cherished,
True to the truth for which martyrs have perished,
To God's command,
Soul, heart, and hand,
Faithful and true we will ever stand.

Amen! Until very recently I didn't have any idea about all the consequences that would come as a result of legalizing & accepting same sex marriage. We will ALL be negatively affected if Prop 8 doesn't pass. The same is true for the others states, like AZ, that will vote on the issue.
Good for you Ortons for making your voice heard! Keep up the fight, you're not alone. We made a similar post on our blog. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you and your friends spread the word.
I've never been quoted. Thanks! It's all true. Now that the election day draws near I'm seeing just how heated the Prop 8 debate is getting. I'm sure you're seeing it as well. This issue is constantly in our prayers.
